Apocalypse - What emotion is awakened in you when you hear this word? FEAR?
Updated: Aug 27, 2018
Have you ever been afraid of something and found out later it was nothing to be afraid of? I was once afraid of a man because of his beard. But later, I discovered He was a sweet, kind, loving uncle who I was very sad to say good bye to.
The online Strong's Concordance defines the word Revelation or Greek word #apocalypse in Revelation 1:1 this way.
"ἀποκάλυψις apokálypsis, ap-ok-al'-oop-sis; from G601; disclosure:—appearing, coming, lighten, manifestation, be revealed, revelation." https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=G602&t=KJV
and its root origin is defined as
"ἀποκαλύπτω apokalýptō, ap-ok-al-oop'-to; from G575 and G2572; to take off the cover, i.e. disclose:—reveal."https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G601
Jesus, when speaking of misconceptions people would have in regard to Him, His disciples, and His enemies, said, " Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known." Matthew 10:26 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-Chapter-10/
I used to think there were certain people only such as theology professors or students who could really understand prophecy. Then I started to notice things, like the following, that Jesus said, At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast #revealed them unto babes. Matthew 11:25 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-Chapter-11/
"If we really want to know what God is up to, we can look at what the prophets said. Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he #revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Amos 3:7 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Amos-Chapter-3/
So what kinds of things in prophecy (the testimony of Jesus Christ -Revelation 19:10) is He #revealing to us? I have made a list. But I'm sure there may be more as I constantly find more.
*The gospel or good news about Jesus - "Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the #revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:" Romans 16:25-26 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Romans-Chapter-16/
*The future through The Revelation of Jesus Christ - "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:" Revelation 1:1 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-Chapter-1/
*The character of God the Father - "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will #reveal him. Matthew 11:27 "https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-Chapter-11/
*The wrath of God and the knowlege of God - "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:18-20"https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Romans-Chapter-1/
*The glory which shall be revealed in us - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Romans 8:16-19 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Romans-Chapter-8/
*Every man's work - Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians 3:13 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/1-Corinthians-Chapter-3/
*The man of sin, son of perdition, mystery of iniquity, that Wicked - Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;... And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2 Thessalonians 2:3,6-8 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Thessalonians-Chapter-2/
*The thoughts of many hearts - (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Luke 2:35
Everyday I open my Bible and find there a revelation. Whether it be of Jesus, God, myself, or evil, I find it comforting to know God, the Author of my life is trying to communicate with me regarding my existence in relation to Him. He has taken off the cover regarding Himself to reveal Himself in relationship to me. Join me as I start this adventure in proph-ecy made proph-easy.
